Tower of Hell Gears

Compare Tower of Hell's six community-documented shop gears, learn when each tool helps, and avoid temporary-purchase mistakes.

Tower of Hell gears are round-limited tools under current community documentation. The commonly documented shop roster is Gravity Coil, Speed Coil, Fusion Coil, Trowel, Hook, and Hourglass. Each can change movement or route decisions, so test it low in the tower before depending on it near the top.

Compare the six gear roles

Gravity Coil

Movement gear associated with altered jump or gravity behavior.

Watch: changed airtime and low ceilings.

Speed Coil

Movement gear associated with faster travel.

Watch: overshooting narrow landings.

Fusion Coil

Combined movement utility in community documentation.

Watch: multiple timing changes at once.

Trowel

Placement utility that can create a route aid where current rules allow.

Watch: placement limits and round state.

Hook

Traversal utility with an extra aim or activation decision.

Watch: valid targets and control layout.

Hourglass

Timing-oriented utility documented by the community.

Watch: live description, duration, and cooldown.

These summaries describe roles, not exact current stats. Read the live shop text and skill-tree nodes for precise effects.

Choose gear after diagnosing the obstacle

Ask why the normal route fails. If alignment is wrong, more speed makes it worse. If a low ceiling blocks a jump, more height is not the answer. If a repeated long gap remains impossible after correct alignment, a movement tool may be relevant.

Use gear to solve a named constraint. This keeps coins focused and makes the result testable.

Relearn movement after equipping

Test walking speed, jump distance, airtime, and stopping distance on safe lower geometry. A movement coil changes the rhythm learned without it. Aim for landing centers until the new distance is predictable. Avoid mixing a new gear with a new camera mode on a completion attempt.

For touch or controller, confirm where the gear activation appears and whether it blocks the view or changes hand position.

Understand temporary ownership

Community documentation describes shop gears as lasting for the current round. Verify the live purchase message. Do not treat one coin purchase as permanent inventory unless the current interface explicitly says so.

When a round is nearly over, a purchase may provide too little practice to justify its cost. Wait for a fresh round unless the immediate goal depends on the current layout.

Connect gears to the skill tree

The community-documented skill tree has gear-focused branches, one active branch at a time, and reset behavior. Open the live tree, read the exact node, and test one upgrade against the same gear and obstacle. A skill point should support a tool you actually use.

The skill tree guide explains how to record and test a branch without relying on an old fixed build.

Plan the Collector badge

The official Collector badge description says to buy all the gears in one round. Build the required roster and total cost from the current shop. Ensure enough time and coins remain, purchase through the normal interface, and verify every item registered during the same round.

If the badge does not award, compare the current menu with the six-item community roster. An update may have changed availability or the qualifying set.

Avoid common gear mistakes

  • Buying speed before learning how to stop on small platforms.
  • Buying at the end of a round without enough test time.
  • Assuming a temporary shop item is a permanent gamepass.
  • Copying old prices instead of reading the live menu.
  • Spending skill points before confirming the active branch.
  • Using a tool to skip route knowledge needed later.
  • Paying a third party for an “unlocked” item.

A simple test session

Complete one lower section without gear and record the hardest movement. Buy one relevant gear in a fresh round, test it on safe geometry, then attempt the same obstacle family. Record whether it improved consistency, merely increased speed, or created a new failure. Keep the gear only in your plan if the result is repeatable.
